Narrative Food grows our mission-driven business while deepening roots in Maine.

To Our Valued Stakeholders

2025 was a year of remarkable growth for Narrative Food. After settling into Maine in 2023 and deeping relationships with our new community in 2024, we nearly doubled our sales revenue in 2025 - proving that mission-driven corporate gifting resonates with companies seeking to align their values with their purchasing decisions.

Our biggest milestone was expanding our For Good product line. Building on the success of Popcorn for Peace and Chocolate for Change, we added six new products in 2025: Coffee for Community featuring our island neighbors at 44 North Coffee, Caramels for Climate made with ingredients from organic farms here in Maine, along with Chai for our Coast, Walnuts for the Watershed, and Pomes for the People. Each product tells a maker's story and connects directly to a cause. All of our new 2025 products feature biodegradable packaging, reinforcing our commitment to environmental sustainability.

We deepened our partnerships with small-batch makers who share our values - focusing on quality relationships over quantity. 57% of our product spending now supports women and minority-owned businesses, and we've increased our Maine-based partnerships to represent 32% of our total spending with makers, keeping more dollars in our island community and across coastal Maine.

Beyond our own business, I continued co-leading the B1 Network with Brittany Angelo at B Lab and Elise Allyn at Conscious Revolution - a global initiative bringing together B Corps who are also 1% for the Planet members to amplify our collective worldwide impact. This network exemplifies what we believe about business: that we create more change together than we ever could alone.

Our commitment to giving back grew stronger too. We exceeded our 2% donation commitment, directing 3.3% of revenue to nonprofits working on climate, community, and conservation. World Central Kitchen remained our largest recipient at $2,225, with additional support flowing to Teens to Trails, WeTheChange, ClimateWork Maine, Boys & Girls Club of Southern Maine, and Zero Foodprint.

Looking ahead to 2026, we're expanding our For Good product line with new additions and exploring wedding welcome gifts as a natural extension of our mission to bring meaningful food experiences to life's important moments.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Our For Good product line drove meaningful volume for our maker partners, creating products that tell powerful stories while supporting regenerative practices, local food systems, and rural entrepreneurship from Maine to the West Coast.

These partnerships showcase how mission-aligned businesses can support one another's growth - turning our corporate gifting dollars into meaningful revenue for small-batch makers.

Partnership Spotlight

Pomes for the People

From the Orchard

One of our most meaningful partnerships in 2025 was with 5 Star Nursery & Orchard in Brooklin, just over the bridge from our home in Deer Isle. We source apples and pears from their orchard and dehydrate them in small batches to create Pomes for the People (pome is the botanical term for apple-family fruit).

This creates a shelf-stable product that preserves the harvest while using far less water than cider production - an important consideration as water becomes increasingly scarce. Each bag offers a delicious way to enjoy Maine's orchards year-round while supporting local agriculture.

As we look ahead to 2026, we're exploring funding for more industrial dehydration equipment that would allow us to increase production capacity. This is the kind of work that excites us most: creating products that support local farmers, conserve resources, and demonstrate how businesses can strengthen their communities.

Meet the people behind our products:

Our Sustainability

Becoming Climate Neutral

As a Certified B Corp since 2013, we have a longstanding commitment to social and environmental impact.

When we became Climate Neutral Certified with The Climate Label in 2024, our total carbon inventory was estimated at just 15 tonnes of CO2e. That means we generated less than .2 kg of CO2e per dollar of revenue.

We addressed those emissions immediately by buying and retiring an equal amount of high-quality, verified carbon and clean energy credits to keep roughly 16,800 pounds of carbon in the ground.

Our Action Plans

In addition to cutting our direct and indirect emissions in half by 2030, we adopted several action plans to reduce emissions at every level of our supply chain.

Improved Packaging

Sustainable Packaging

We continue to invest in sustainable packaging solutions. In 2025, we developed biodegradable packaging for our new For Good product line - kraft bags and stickers that break down naturally while maintaining the quality our products deserve.

For our gift boxes, we partner with EcoEnclose for custom-printed boxes, eco-friendly collateral, printed tissue paper, water-activated tape, and zero-waste stickers - all of which is recyclable or compostable. EcoEnclose's commitment to sustainable practices and transparent impact reporting aligns perfectly with our values, which is why we shifted our packaging business from conventional suppliers to this mission-driven partner.

Carbon-Neutral Shipping

Carbon-Neutral Shipping

Carbon-neutral shipping is free at Narrative Food. For every order we ship, we work with Shopify Planet to compensate for any carbon.

Our Goals for 2026

As we look ahead to 2026, our focus is on building on the momentum of 2025 while exploring new opportunities to bring meaningful food experiences to more moments that matter.

Expanding our For Good Product Line

Following the successful launch of six new For Good products in 2025, we're continuing to develop this line with additional offerings that tell maker stories, support regenerative practices, and connect directly to causes our customers care about. Each new product will carry the mission-driven approach and sustainable values that defined our 2025 launches.

New 2026 Product Collaboration

Maker Spotlight: Usha Beaudoin, Matinicus Salt Farm

We're excited to be developing Salt for Our Shores with Usha Beaudoin, owner of Matinicus Salt Farm on Matinicus Island. Usha produces solar-dried sea salt using traditional methods and renewable energy - creating a product that captures the essence of Maine's coastal waters while demonstrating sustainable food production at its finest.

This partnership exemplifies our commitment to supporting island-based makers and bringing authentic, place-based products to our For Good line.

Growing into Weddings and Vacation Rentals

We're expanding beyond corporate gifting into wedding welcome gifts and vacation rental amenity boxes. These small-batch, place-based products create memorable experiences for celebrations and travel - offering guests authentic tastes of Maine and beyond that reflect the care and craftsmanship of our maker partners. By bringing our curated approach to these meaningful moments, we're supporting the same network of artisans while helping hosts create lasting impressions.

Deepening Corporate Partnerships

We remain committed to serving our corporate clients with thoughtful, impact-driven gifting solutions - from employee recognition to client appreciation to event welcome boxes. Our focus is on building deeper relationships with companies that share our values rather than chasing volume.

Amplifying Collective Impact through B1

We'll continue co-leading the B1 Network, bringing together B Corps and 1% for the Planet members to create change that's bigger than any single business - demonstrating that collaboration amplifies impact.

Public Benefits and Disclosures

As a Certified B Corp, Climate Neutral Certified company, 1% for the Planet member, and WBENC-certified women-owned business, we remain committed to measuring and improving our impact. Our work spans environmental stewardship, worker well-being, community engagement, and responsible corporate governance. Through these certifications and commitments, we continue to build bridges between producers and companies seeking authentic ways to connect with their stakeholders.
