The Stories Inside Your Gift
Meet the makers and the food featured in the Alcott tiers:
- Slack Tide Sea Salt: Crisp and clean, this salt is made in small batches from the freshest, clearest, ocean waters of Maine. The water is harvested by hand in a small boat at an incoming tide and then solar-evaporated in green houses on York’s tidal river. Slack Tide is headed up by aunt-and-niece team Cathy and Lauren along with childhood friend Sarah. They are a woman-owned and operated small-batch sea salt company in southern Maine. (1.8 oz)
- Virgo Moon Honey & Sea Salt Caramels: Made with fresh sea salt and raw wildflower honey, these Maine-made caramels taste like a coastal summer breeze. Every batch is hand-stirred for a soft, smooth, and creamy bite. Best of all, a portion of every sale is donated to Maine Needs, striving to build a community where everyone helps and no one goes without. (3.5 oz)
- Narrative Food Caramels for the Climate: These slow-crafted caramels come from Virgo Moon in Mechanic Falls, Maine, where they’re made by hand with local Maine honey, butter, and sea salt in celebration of our local food system. Virgo Moon also donates a percentage of every sale to Maine Needs, striving to build a community where everyone helps and no one goes without. (1.75 oz)
- Narrative Food Chocolate for Change: Crafted in collaboration with La Nef Chocolate’s 70% dark chocolate and Slack Tide Maine’s sustainably-harvested sea salt just down the bay from our home on Deer Isle. (1.75 oz.)
- Handcrafted in Maine Stone Salt Cellar: This one-of-a-kind stone salt cellar is handcrafted in Eliot, Maine, where hours are spent searching for the perfect stones to be transformed as a beloved family pastime. The shapes and textures made by the pounding surf and flowing currents are distinct to each stone. Includes a bamboo spoon for serving which can be stored in the salt cellar with the lid on or off. (8 oz)
- Better with Buckwheat Sea Salt Crackers: Founder Karen was a former bread-baker, dairy-farmer, and award-winning cheese chef before she began experimenting with gluten-free buckwheat flour. Today, she uses only the best buckwheat in herproducts, from farms like the Bouchard Family Farm in Maine. (4.25 oz)
- Salt & Twine Salted Fennel Salami: As the first small-batch salumeria in New England, this Massachusetts maker of fermented and slow-aged pork products is proudly named after the time-honored tradition of curing and packaging meats. Today, they strive to pass along these traditions and culture through their wholesome, contemporary charcuterie. (5 oz)
- Ragged Coast Almond Sea Salt Chocolate Bark: Based in Maine, Ragged Coast makes all of their confections with fresh cream and butter from local farms while gathering fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables, and edible flowers from Maine farmers and gardeners they've met along the way. Their single-origin, sustainably-grown, and directly-traded chocolate is sourced from producers in Latin America that not only make the best chocolate in the world, but also treat the growers, harvesters, and the flora and fauna on their lands with respect.
