Choose A Cause — For Good

Coffee for Community

Dark-roast coffee from an island in Maine

Named after the Royal Tar circus ship that sank off Deer Isle in 1836, this dark roast connects our island community with coffee farmers worldwide. Woman-owned 44 North Coffee sources from B Corp certified Coop Coffees with farmer-owned cooperatives that invest in community development, education, and sustainability. 6 oz.

Chai for Community

Organic chai blended in Maine

This organic chai is lovingly blended just across the bridge from our Deer Isle home in Downeast Maine by ChaiWallahs of Maine, a woman-owned company that has been bringing people together around warm mugs since 2009. The slow cooking process offers a moment to pause, be present, and connect with those around you. 3 oz.

Walnuts for the Watershed

Dry-farmed heirloom walnuts from California

These certified organic walnuts come from our long-time partner Jutta of Manzanita Manor in Paso Robles, CA. Jutta's walnuts are dry-farmed with no irrigation beyond natural rainfall, a radical approach in a state where conventional walnut orchards consume thousands of gallons of precious water per pound produced. 5 oz.

Chocolate for Change

70% cacao bar with Maine sea salt

Crafted in collaboration with La Nef Chocolate and featuring sustainably-harvested sea salt from Slack Tide. Just down the bay from our home in Deer Isle, La Nef was founded on Monhegan Island by artists-and-chocolatiers Mandy and Dylan. All of their bars support other makers, farmers, and artists in their community. 1.75 oz.

Caramels for the Climate

Caramels made with Maine sea salt and honey

These slow-crafted herbal candies are made by Virgo Moon in Mechanic Falls, Maine, using local ingredients. Each small batch supports Maine's local food system while delivering pure, buttery bliss. Virgo Moon donates a percentage of sales to support harm reduction and recovery organizations in Maine. 1.75 oz.

Food tells a story, and the foods we curate for your unique box will also tell a story of community-building, mindful small-scale growers and food makers, and innovators who understand the positive impact a healthy food system can have on communities and the climate. Our model encourages a nonprofit donation for every box to support organizations you care about and share their mission with your stake-holders.

A Member of 1% of the Planet, Narrative Food is a woman-owned Certified B Corp operating in Los Angeles since 2010, and recently relocated to a rural island in Maine. With farm to table origins, we are deeply rooted in our local food system, with long-standing relationships with food innovators – many woman-owned. From millers of heirloom grains, to bean-to-bar chocolate-makers, to producers of upcycled cookie mix, or the best mole outside of Oaxaca; our gifts highlight the craftsmanship of small-scale, diverse makers, whom we have been working with for over a decade. Narrative Food is committed to donating a minimum of 2% of sales to non profits with social or environmental impact.
