La Nef Chocolate is made on Monhegan Island — another of Maine's remote outposts — by artists-turned-chocolatiers Mandy and Dylan, who source directly from farmers and support other makers in their community. The salt comes from Matinicus Island, hand-harvested by Usha Beaudoin from the cold Atlantic. Break off a piece of dark chocolate, take a pinch of salt, and you'll understand why some things don't need to be complicated.
